Modified Tour Announces 2008 Events At Tri-City And Lernerville Speedways

The BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour 08 season may still be several months away however Modified Tour Board Members have been busy working on the series’ schedule. The Series will open the 2008 season at the Tri-City Speedway on Sunday, May 25th with the running of the Fifth Annual Dick Rankin Memorial. BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour 07 Champion, Russell King, is the defending race winner and will definitely be looking to defend his title and once again capture the victory.
The Modified Tour will also return to the Franklin, PA oval on Sunday, July 20th for the 16th annual Kodiak Memorial, which honors famed DIRTcar owner, Bob “Kodiak” Graham. The 2007 event saw Del Rougeux, Jr. capture the win.
The BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour will also make their annual appearance at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA on Friday, May 30th. Kevin Bolland brought home the checkered flag when the Series stopped at the Sarver, PA facility earlier this year.
Tour officials also announced that the Series is expected to return to the Expo Speedway in Cortland, OH. The race will be part of the Trumbull County Fair and as soon as the fair week dates are confirmed the specific date will be announced.
In addition the Series Board Members are continuing to speak with several area facilities to confirm additional dates for the 2008 racing season.

The BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour 07 will honor series champion Russell King at their annual party and social gathering on Saturday, January 26th, 2008. The event will once again be held at Big Daddy’s Speed Center located at 139 Gasper Road, Grove City, PA, and will begin at 6:00PM. The event is open to all Tour drivers, fans and crew members as well as media representatives, track promoters and personnel, and series sponsors. The cost of admission is a large covered dish and a snack.
Please RSVP to Big Daddy’s Speed center at 724 458-6465 no later than January 21, 2008 with the number of persons who will be attending.
The Series point fund money will be distributed at the party. Drivers are reminded that a 10% handling fee will be deducted from their point fund monies if they are not represented at the event.

Modified Tour’s Inaugural High Performance Swap Meet A Success!!

The BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour 07 closed out their 2007 racing season with their first annual High Performance Swap Meet, which was held on Saturday, November 3rd at the Sharon Speedway. The event, which was the “brain child” of Tour Board member, Ray Baselj, featured 58 vendors selling a variety of new and used race cars, racing parts, collectibles and racing apparel. The event was also co-sponsored by Big Daddy’s Speed Center. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Modified Tour Points Fund which will be distributed to the drivers at the awards banquet in January. Due to the very positive response that the Modified Tour received look for an even bigger event in 2008!!

The Modified Tour Board Members would also like to “thank” the management of the Sharon Speedway for donating the use of the speedway grounds for the event. In addition a special “Thank You” goes out to the following persons who graciously donated items for the Chinese Auction: Rob Curtis and The Curtis Race Team, Ray Baselj and Ray’s Racing Specialties and Tim Engles.
The Modified Tour 07 Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Big Daddy’s Speed Center in Grove City, PA. Additional details will be announced in the next few weeks.
Board members are also busy working on the 2008 schedule. As dates are finalized and the contracts are signed additional details will be released.
