For the second straight day, rains forced the Trumbull County Fair Board to postpone the auto races scheduled for Expo Speedway. The latest casualty was the BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour event set for Thursday, July 2. Fair Board members and Modified Tour officials are negotiating for a new date for the program.
“It is unfortunate that the weather interfered with our race at Expo,” said Modified Tour President Ray Baselj. “Our guys were really pumped up to be back there on that big track.” The fast five-eighths at Expo Speedway is the longest course for the touring Big Blocks.
In two previous appearances for the Modified Tour at Expo, the King Brothers racing stable came out on top. Rex King, Sr. and Russell King chalked up the popular wins. The Kings are from nearby Bristolville, OH, and the King family took a turn at promoting racing events at the track in years gone by.
The next BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour event will be on July 5, 2009, at Tri-City Speedway, Franklin, PA. There will be a rain date of July 12, 2009.
