Modified Tour Points Clarified for Lernerville DIRTCar/Modified Tour Challenge on September 11

Officials of the BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour wish to take this opportunity to inform all fans and competitors of the method by which points will be awarded for the September 11 event only.

The race will be a full points race for the BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour.

However, because of the high number of DIRTCar drivers who are elgible for guaranteed starting positions, it has been decided that Modified Tour points will be scored on a “race within the race” system.

Winner’s points will be awarded to the driver who has the highest finish in the 75 lap A Main provided that the driver is a full member of the Modified Tour. Drivers who are racing on Modified Tour Temporary Permits will not be eligible to receive full Modified Tour points. In other words, the Temporary Permit drivers will receive show-up points only for the feature event. This scoring will apply to both heats and feature events.

By way of example only, suppose that Temprorary Permit holders finish in positions 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 of the race; and that Modified Tour member drivers finish in positions 4, 6, 8 and 10. Winner’s points will go to the fourth place finisher; second place points will go to the sixth place finisher overall; third place points will go to the eighth place finisher; and fourth place points will go to the tenth place finisher; and so on.

Points will be awarded for all 26 positions in the Modified Tour A Main scoring system. Thus, if there are only 15 Modified Tour member drivers on the 75 lap feature, points will be awarded to the member drivers who do not transfer to the 75 lap A Main. Their points will be based upon the finishes in the B Main(s), regardless of whether the driver races in the first or second B Main. By way of example only, if the highest finishing member driver who does not transfer to the A Main is the fifth place driver in B Main 2, that member driver would be given precedence over the lower finishing driver from B Main 1. Drivers who have the same finishing position will be treated as a tie and each will receive the same number of points. Thus, member drivers who finish sixth in each B will receive the same number of points.

The next BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour events will be on Friday, September 11, at Lernerville Speedway, Sarver, PA; and Saturday, September 19, at Sharon Speedway, Hartford, OH.
