MODIFIED TOUR PART OF HILLBILLY WEEKEND AT WVMS

Officials of The Modified Tour, Inc. and Mountain State Motorsports Promotions, LLC, along with renowned promoter Carl Short, are pleased to announce the addition of the Big Block Modifieds to the prestigious Hillbilly 100 weekend at West Virginia Motor Speedway. The cars and stars of the BRP/Hoosier Modified Tour will get two cracks at the big track located in Mineral Wells, WV over the Labor Day weekend. Plans call for two complete programs capped by thirty lap features on Friday, September 3, and Saturday, September 4. Each race will pay $1,500 to win. Every one of the thirty cars starting the features will receive at least $225.

“We are really excited about this event,” said Modified Tour President Lou Long. He started thinking about a two-day program for West Virginia last season, when the Modified Tour lost its Mountaineer 40 to rain, “I spent plenty of time that afternoon talking with Dan Patterson about the concept, and he was receptive to it.” At the time, Patterson was part of the BDS promotional team that operated a different track in the Mountain State. “Little did I know that the idea would blossom into this,” Long added.

“We enjoyed working with the Modified Tour and had great success in the first two races we promoted,” noted Brian Ferrell, another member of the BDS group. BDS became Mountain State Motorsports, LLC when the principals moved to their new venue. Ferrell continued, “we knew that we wanted to bring the Modifieds to our new track and we thought that adding them to the Hillbilly weekend would be a great fit.” He concluded, “we are looking forward to growing this event in the years ahead.”
