Officials of the BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour and the Trumbull County Fair Board are pleased to announce that the Modifieds will return to Expo Speedway on Thursday, July 1. The event will be part of the Trumbull County Fair. Although some details remain to be negotiated, the race will likely feature an early starting time and will be run under natural light.
“I love fair races,” said Modified Tour President, Lou Long. “There is something special about the carnival atmosphere and auto racing has long been a staple of fair entertainment,” he added.
No doubt, the King Brothers Racing Team will be ecstatic about the return engagement. Three time and defending Champion Rex King, Sr. and his older son, Russell (now a World of Outlaws Late Model Series racer) have won the previous two Modified Tour races at the Cortland, OH track. Maybe Rex King, Jr. can grab his first career Modified Tour win at the big oval that is, figuratively, in his own back yard.
The 2009 race was canceled due to rain.
